Federal ajanlıktan emekli olan Benjamin Esposito, geçmişte tanık olduğu ve içinde yer aldığı gerçek bir öykü üzerine kurulu bir roman yazmaya karar verir. Romanın olay örgüsü 1973'te Buenos Aires'te gerçekleşen vahşi bir tecavüz ve onu takip eden cinayetin failini bulma çabalarını konu almaktadır. Kısa bir sure sonra cinayetin acı dolu hatırası üzerine düşünmek, Esposito'nun güncel yaşamının detaylarını aydınlatmaya başlar ve onu, duygularına ayna tutarak saplantılı bir aşkın ördüğü ağ ile yüzleşmeye zorlar.
